Does the Enchanted Circle Chapter have meetings in the Taos area? I am a new resident of the area and trying to connect with my local TU chapter and get in the loop, so to speak. I seemed to have a little difficulty changing chapters through national and am not sure if I am getting any local information yet. I was a charter member of the, I guess, now defunct She Fishes! and have a long history of fishing NM. Delighted to be here permanently.

    Thanks,
    Susan

Very glad you organized the full page in issue of ‘The Taos News’ just out, which I didn’t know was coming but which worked very well indeed with my editorial page piece (with aerial photo) on the Rio Grande del
Norte NCA initiative, in the same issue of the paper.

However, I think you all may need to mend some fences with Senator Bingaman, whom you neglected to thank and really should have since it
was he (Senator Udall also signed-on prior to Ben Ray) whose staff initated the whole concept and effort. Sen. Bingaman & Sen. Udall introduced legislation in the Senate first; Rep. Lujan’s recent intro in the House was basically companion legislation based on the two Senator’s earlier Senate bill. Were I Senator Bingaman, or his staff members who’ve worked on this since at least 2007, I’d be insulted by your add. I can personally testify to this as I went to DC to lobby for the RGdNNCA (with the NM Wilderness Alliance and at their expense) in 2007, when we met with Sen. Bingaman who was then considering the initiative but hadn’t introduced legislation — and did not until after opposing Sen. Dominichi retired.
