New Mexico Now Has a 3rd TU Chapter

Jeff Arterburn talks to TU members in Las Cruces

On Saturday, over 30 TU members and fisheries agency personnel gathered on the campus of New Mexico State University to form a new TU Chapter.  The Gila/Rio Grande Chapter will serve TU members in the southern part of the state ranging from the Sacramento mountains to the Gila Wilderness, and also TU members in the El Paso area.

Speaking at the meeting were Jerry Monzingo, Fisheries Biologist for the Gila National Forest, Matt Schultz with the New Mexico Surface Water Quality Bureau, Tawnya Brumett, District Wildlife Biologist for the Wilderness District of the Gila NF, Colleen A. Caldwell, Ph.D., NMSU Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Ecology, and Matt Ziegler, President, NMSU Student Chapter American Fisheries Society.

The officers of the new chapter are:

Jeff Arterburn, President

Andrew Brill, Vice President

Terry Spence, Treasurer

Jim Sorenson, Secretary

New Mexico can be proud that we now have a chapter that will be making a difference on our southern trout streams.
